Why GPS is required
During an active shipment, the TruckYou Driver App uses your device’s GPS to:- Share your real-time position with the shipper and your fleet owner.
- Log location data against each delivery stage for accurate timestamps and route records.
- Provide an audit trail in the event of a dispute about delivery timing or route.
- Confirm that you are at the correct pickup or delivery location when submitting POP or POD.
How to enable GPS
You must enable location permissions for the TruckYou Driver App before starting a delivery. Follow the steps for your device:- Android
- iOS
- Open Settings on your device.
- Go to Location and make sure it is turned on.
- Go to Apps > TruckYou Driver > Permissions > Location.
- Select Allow all the time to enable background location tracking.
Background location tracking
When you have an active shipment, the app continues to track your location even when it is not open on your screen. This is called background location tracking. Background tracking is necessary because:- Drivers frequently switch between apps or lock their screens while navigating.
- A continuous location signal is required to maintain an accurate journey record.
- Gaps in location data can affect the integrity of the delivery timeline and POD verification.
How shippers see your location
While you are on an active shipment, shippers logged into TruckYou can view your current position on a map in real time. The map updates as you move. Shippers can also see when you arrive at the pickup and delivery locations, based on your GPS position at the time you submit POP and POD. Your fleet owner can also monitor your location during active shipments from their TruckYou dashboard.Location data is collected only while you have an active shipment in progress. Once you submit POD and the delivery is marked complete, location collection stops automatically.
